Setting Pro Tool's default output to a bus
Main Post:
Hello
My routing is a little weird. Basically, when I create a new track, I need it to default to a bus, not a phyiscal output. The reason for this gets a little confusing.
Is this possible? It's rather time consuming to have to create a new track and manually change it to the correct bus, especially when doing this multiple times in a session.
Top Comment: In the io settings you can set the default output path to whatever you want Its either under the output or bus page
Multiband Sidechain (FabFilter Pro MB) to a BUS problem
Main Post:
So in my project I have this guitar BUS that all three of the guitars are routed to (via the 'Route to this track only' option). It looks like this
Now, I want to sidechain the snare to the guitars (so it cuts through the mix and is more audible). I want to use a multiband compressor (in my case it's FabFilter Pro MB) so only certain frequencies of the guitars get compressed when the snare hits.
The way I do it is: I clone the original snare sample and route the cloned snare to a separate mixer channel (you can see it in the mixer screenshot posted above). What I do then is I 'unplug' the cloned sidechain snare signal from the master (so it doesn't make any sound) and I then sidechain it to the guitar bus using the 'sidechain to this track' option and setting the sidechain knob on the guitar bus to 100%.
I set everything up inside the FabFilter Pro MB aaaaand... The snare signal still gets doubled... Even though I've unplugged the sidechain snare from the master...
How do I fix this and make the sidechain snare inaudible? Right now I get both snares (the original one and the one meant for sidechain) clashing together... Anyone?
Top Comment: Disconnect channel 1, 2 and 3 from the master bus. Connect channel 1, 2 and 3 to "guitar bus". Put Fabfilter Pro MB on the "guitar bus". Now select your "snare" channel, right click the input to your "guitar bus" and select "sidechain to this track only". Do not touch the volume control that appears at the bottom of "guitar bus". This should be at zero level. If it is anything above zero, it means your snare signal will pass through "guitar bus". Your guitar bus terminates in a monitor/headphone out so you will hear the snare. Open Fabfilter Pro MB. You will see a little "cog" icon in the top left corner. It is part of FL's VST plugin wrapper. Click this icon. 2 bigger icons will appear below it - a "plug" and a "plug + cog". Click the "plug + cog" (its the second icon). Select "processing". You should see a section called "connections". See "sidechain input"? Right click the number value box next to it and select your snare channel. This will route the snare signal directly to Pro MB's peak detector. In Pro MB if there is a sidechain input level, you can vary this to control the level of the signal triggering the compressor. You should note that in the "connections" panel, all connected channels will be indexed so you should avoid using the old pre-wired sends when doing this, as it will index 104 channels. Moving your channels around using alt + left or right arrow will change the channel number but not the input/sidechain index number, causing your routing to break.
Dolphin Pro Controller Gyro Without ViGem Bus
Main Post:
I am using a computer in which I do not have administrator priveledges. Does anyone know how I can use my Pro Controller's gyro in dolphin without requiring admin to install ViGem Bus?
Top Comment:
pick SDL as your input API and it should just work.
Anker life A1 vs Samsung Bus Pro
Main Post:
Both have the specs that I want (waterproof ipx7) But which one do you think wins quality wise? Samsung is much pricier but if there isn't much difference I'm thinking about just getting the ankerlife
Top Comment: Depends on how important options are to you. If just sound quality is your main priority then the A1's win. However, if things like anc and an app etc.. then the Samsungs for sure.
Have anyone used Galaxy Bus Pro with Oculus Quest 2?
Main Post:
I want to buy Quest 2, but I'm going to need earbuds that are good for gaming(latency) and let me hear if somebody is talking to me at the time. Anybody have any experience with using Samsung buds with Quest 2?
PS:I've used them for short period of time and they were comfortable for my ear shape.

It's lag-central with them. I wouldn't use it
Is Apollo Pro (or Phantom) too big for a bus?
Main Post:
I'm thinking about getting the Apollo Phantom (and I'm assuming it will be a similar size to the apollo pro), but my commute involves (or, will after covid) going on a light rail. I currently have an Emove Cruiser, which is totally fine on the bus, although I do wonder if the ability to fold the handles down makes this easier.
Does anyone have any experience with bringing Apollo Pro on a bus in a city?
Top Comment:
I wouldn't even consider talking the Apollo Explore that I had onto the bus lol. 48" long and that wide deck make it challenging to move around my apartment let alone a bus. The Pro, Phantom and even the Ghost are larger than that. I think they are all 50.5" long and considerably heavier. I think the City is the largest you can easily take onto a bus without the driver getting pissed or telling you to take a hike. Maybe you can get it onto the subway but I haven't tried yet. I live in NYC though, maybe bus drivers are nicer where you live lol.
Logic 10.6.2 bus latency issue FIX!
Main Post:
This worked for me:
- Go to Preferences > Audio > General - Plugin Latency
- Under "Compensation" select: "Audio and Software Instrument Tracks"
Top Comment:
Yes, it fixed the latency issue that the update to 10.6.2 caused on the instrument summing bus. The bus meter/audio would start playing before the actual instruments tracks. It was very strange.
I can't speak to the GUI lag, unless the above bus metering issue qualifies. That went away as well, so as far as I can tell, all is fine again!
apollo air pro for bus/train commuting?
Main Post:
hi everyone, I’m thinking about jumping on this next preorder for the apollo air pro. However, I haven’t been able to find much feedback on the quality of the scooter and was wondering if anyone here had any experience.
I read the review on the ESG site, however I feel like the one aspect their reviews really lack is in hardware durability longer term. (I almost went with the emove touring because of their review but further reading on this sub revealed that it probably wouldn’t last very long without falling apart).
I just need something that I can ride to the transit station (and can fold up and be stashed in the cargo area when I need to take the charter-style bus) then ride through the city to my destination. ~16 miles round trip at most. The sidewalks in my area are pretty rough at times so I appreciate the front suspension and larger tires. I also like the dual-brake setup and the water-resistance. Not trying to get into mods unless there’s ever a chance to upgrade the battery.
My experience on electric scooters so far is from riding Lime scooters around the city, which only go 15mph and so I think an 18mph top speed is sufficient.
As for durability, I just want something reliable that won’t strand me and that I can potentially resell locally after a year or two of use. I am car-less but for most things I can get around just fine on my bike, so the scooter won’t see daily use.
Appreciate any info / experience that folks can share, thanks!

Forget the Air pro, just get the better Ninebot Max.
Only 4 pounds heavier with much better range, build quality, better tires pre slimed, proven weather resistance, modifiable firmware for more speed/torque(21mph + better on hills then the air)
Its a no contest.
